Who are Jenius Bank personal loans best for?

Best low-rate loans for fair (and better) credit

If you have a credit score on the high end of the fair FICO scale (580 to 669), you could be eligible for a no-fee loan from Jenius Bank with a low maximum APR. With other lenders, you might be approved for a rate near 30%. But with Jenius, the highest rate you'll get if approved is 23.49%.

Borrowers with excellent credit, however, may benefit from some of the lowest rates in the online lending industry. Only four lenders out of Credible’s 19 partner lenders have lower starting rates than Jenuis (LightStream, Upstart, Best Egg, and LendingClub).

Great for next-day funding, manageable payments, and no fees

If you need quick access to funds, Jenius Bank offers next-business-day funding. Plus, the lender allows repayment terms of up to six years. A longer repayment term can help make payments more manageable, especially if you need to borrow a large amount — which could come in handy if you need a $50,000 loan, Jenius’s maximum loan amount.

Notably, the lender charges zero fees — no origination fees or fees for late or missed payments. Only a few other lenders, such as LightStream and Discover, are true no-fee lenders.

Pros and cons of Jenius Bank personal loans

Jenius Bank is a good option for many, but it won’t be the best choice if you need a small loan or to apply with a co-borrower.

Pros

  • Low maximum APR
  • Autopay discount
  • Next-day funding
  • Fair-credit eligible
  • Mobile app
  • No origination fees
  • 6-year loan terms

Cons

  • High minimum loan amount
  • Low customer service ratings
  • No joint loans

Pros

  • Low maximum APR: Jenius Bank offers a low maximum annual percentage rate, which can help borrowers who qualify with fair credit keep borrowing costs down. For comparison, Credible borrowers with fair credit prequalified for a 31.47% APR, on average, for 5-year loans.
  • Autopay discount: Borrowers can receive a 0.25% discount on their interest rate by enrolling in automatic payments.
  • Next-day funding: Funds can be disbursed as soon as the next business day after loan approval, providing quick access to cash for emergencies, like medical or vet procedures and late bills.
  • Fair-credit eligible: Jenius Bank considers applicants on the high end of the fair credit range — the minimum credit score required is 652. This credit score minimum, paired with a low maximum APR, could mean relatively low borrowing costs if you have fair credit.
  • Mobile app: A dedicated mobile application allows for convenient loan management and tracking.
  • No origination fees: Jenius Bank does not charge any upfront fees, which means you’ll receive the full amount you’re approved for.
  • 6-year loan terms: Borrowers have the flexibility of extended repayment periods, up to 6 years, which can help keep monthly payments low.

Cons

  • High minimum loan amount: If you need a loan less than $5,000, you’ll need to look to another lender. It’s usually best to avoid borrowing more than you need, as it increases your borrowing costs and your monthly payment.
  • Low customer service ratings: Jenius Bank has a low Trustpilot star rating and is not BBB-accredited.
  • No joint loans: Jenius Bank does not offer joint personal loans, meaning you can’t apply with a co-borrower.

How to qualify for a Jenius Bank personal loan

To get a Jenius Bank personal loan, you’ll need to apply through Credible or another personal loan marketplace offering Jenius loans. The bank does not make loans directly through its site.

Credit score and financial history

Jenius Bank requires a minimum FICO score of 652, meaning applicants with a “high” fair-credit score could qualify.

Income and employment

Jenius does not disclose a minimum income amount but considers the amount of income you make, along with its source. The bank discloses that you cannot include your spouse’s income or household income. But you may be able to include income from other sources, like business income, as long as it’s in your name.

Jenius Bank personal loan purposes

Jenius Bank personal loans can be used for a wide variety of purposes, including debt consolidation, home improvement, wedding expenses, and more. Since it can deliver money as soon as the next business day, Jenius Bank could be a good choice for emergency expenses, like unexpected medical or vet bills and insurance deductibles. Jenius Bank notes that its personal loans can’t be used to consolidate or pay off student loan debt.
